Neurodivergence
Late-diagnosed and high-functioning autism and ADHD are becoming more and more frequent in our culture. I've noticed many of the clients who seek me out are neurospicy. Often there is an overlap for those with trauma symptoms and those of us with neurodivergence. The lived experience of having a brain and body with different needs, can itself be a trauma.
I understand how PDA (Persistent Drive for Autonomy/Pathological Demand Avoidance) and RSD (Rejection Sensitive Dysphoria) can impact the therapeutic relationship and the course of treatment.
I have some lived experience with the gifts and struggles that come with neurodivergence, and I tailor therapy sessions to my clients particular needs. This can look like non-fluorescent lighting, a variety of fidget toys available, blankets, weighted pillows, no fragrance oils used in office, an understanding of your lived experience, and non-verbal treatment options.
